US Capitol Building

Posted by
Elaine Hancock (Olney, United States) on 1 February 2012 in Architecture.

Construction originally began in 1793. Since that time it has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended and restored and it looks like there is some kind of restoration or something being done to it right now. I liked this view because I was able to capture the moon.

Agree the Moon makes a sweet companion here . . somehow, today's architecture seldom catches the 'significance' that we see here.

Exquisitely shot, Eileen! Great work with the lighting here...Yes when we were there during Cherry Blossom time 3 years ago, they were doing some work on the Senate wing, I think it was, the construction is done probably but the Senate wing still has it's issues doesn't it :-) As does the Houise side :-) Oh well If some of us are happy, others are ticked... if others are happy, we are ticked ...and so it goes.

Nice work. Maybe we can see a B&W version. I think it might be worth a try.
