Farm for Sale

Posted by
Elaine Hancock (Olney, United States) on 18 December 2014 in Landscape & Rural.

I pass by this farm often. It is a large piece of land with a house, 2 barns and other buildings. It has been for sale for quite a while. It will be sad if a developer buys it and turns it into tract homes. That seems to be the trend these days.

Ah there should be a law against developing green land. Such a shame when developers ruin for a generation. maybe you should buy it :D

I know your feelings, Elaine --- but if somebody buys it, its not only the price for the property, these old buildings - in my opinion - can not be used in the modern "world of farming" !!! You need a pile of money to get going or going into deep debt. - I hope, you will not see any Highrises or appt. bldgs on this lovely property. - But you see it everywhere.
Kindest regards and a nice day Monika

A fine shot of the aging remains of this farm. I wonder if silos are used at all these days. I certainly like the looks of silos on a farm. The barn looks far gone. I'm afraid your fear of home development could happen.

Wonderful shot of the old farm. It seems to be disappear in the near future. That doesn't sound so good.
Have a nice day, Elaine. :)

A great capture of this farm under warm light!! I love the weathered appearance of the barn. This is exactly what has happened to northern Illinois regarding the disappearance of farms and new housing development moving in.
