A Tangle of Wires

Posted by
Elaine Hancock (Olney, United States) on 27 February 2015 in Cityscape & Urban.

It is funny how we are so used to seeing the power lines, that sometimes we really don't see them. In Ellicott City, the wires are like a jungle and run everywhere. You can't miss them even if you tried!

Une ville où l'on est branché !!! ( jeu de mots je ne sais pas ce que cela va donner en anglais !) Excellent N&B !

A city where one is connected !!! (Pun I do not know what it is going to give in English!) Excellent B & W!

this is so typical of american towns, i think. not exactly pretty, but fascinating nonetheless ...

@franz: I totally agree!

Roger Dekert from Vauréal, France

You are right, most of the time I do not even notice the wires. This B&W really brings out what a tangle they are.

And they make a very interesting photo of the wires mixed with tree branches & those trees are quite large too.... I can still get a glimpse of other things going on though! Nicely captured!

It's like this in Kyoto too. I can't tell you how many potentially great street scenes have been ruined by the power lines. Thankfully, Kyoto city is gradually working on a beautification project to put them underground.

I went to your portfolio to explore, but see you aren't use it regularly, so here I am, going a day at a time.
I got to this one and had to laugh. We live in a community with underground wiring here in FL, and while visiting our daughter 'n family last summer in NJ, I was so frustrated not being able to shoot photos w/o poles and wire 'everywhere'. It's all in what we get used to, I guess. ;D
