Starfish Flower Cactus Bloom

Posted by
Elaine Hancock (Olney, United States) on 24 August 2017 in Plant & Nature.

The blooms only last about a day. I missed the first one. This is the second. As you can see, it is attracting flies and it smells pretty bad! It is an interesting plant.

Wow!! What an amazing bloom in its size and appearance!! Its lines make it very eye-catching. Your story of its odor reminds me of the corpse flower.

@Steven: I just read in the paper that there are three corpse flowers in bloom at the National Arboretum. Would love to go downtown and see them!
