Another image of the town of Bodie. Bodie was founded during the 1850's California gold rush. In 1879, the population was about 7,000 inhabitants. In 1910, the census recorded 120 people. A post office remained in Bodie until 1942.

That car would be a great destination for any enthusiast who could restore it. The view of the other is the same as your story told.

What a shame this place was abandoned, but in a way your image shows a place where people felt there was no future and just slowly drifted away to new lives. This is a superb look at the past. 5*

This old truck and the scene behind are a good way to show this ghost town. It has an interesting history.

Interesting story. I'm surprised no one has attempted to restore this classic truck. I love the processing of this one.

Fine composition with excellent B&W processing and very fitting toning. Bodie is on my "bucket list," even though it is so well known.

@Harry: I used to live in California and visited Bodie in the 80's. I always wanted to go back and finally got to a couple of years ago. It had not changed much from what I could remember. It is an interesting place.

Bodie looks like such a fun place to explore and photograph.
