Little Cabin

Posted by
Elaine Hancock (Olney, United States) on 9 November 2017 in Architecture.

I have watched as the land around this little cabin has changed from a piece of farmland into a subdivision with large homes. The cabin sits near the road and has probably been there since the 1800's. Laytonsville has a population of about 375 people. It has a church and a school and a few stores. The big modern homes really don't fit in. I find them to be quite a detraction.

Growth is not always positive.
A fine picture. Maybe a cabin for the instruments of the church's garden?

What a charming image this is. Sad about the new homes encroaching on the rustic beauty

It's a cute cabin. Hopefully someone will tlhink about maintainingi it as a heritage item. The inroad of large houses seems to be occuring everywhere.

I agree with your observation! I am surprised that the City fathers agreed to go this direction rather than trying to retain small town charm with roots in preservation.

@Steven: I get so frustrated with the county council. There are hardly any farms left and lots and lots of building of houses, townhouses and apartments. I don't think that there are enough people to buy all of these houses. The open spaces are diminishing at a really fast rate. It is so sad.

I fully agree. Some developers have no sense of history or maybe just no sense at all. I like that little cabin.
