Moravian Pottery and Tile Works Factory

Posted by Elaine Hancock (Olney, United States) on 11 January 2018 in Art & Design.

This is from the archives. The Moravian Pottery and Tile Works Factory is located in Doylestown, PA. It was built by Henry Chapman Mercer who was an American archeologist and tile-maker during the Arts and Crafts Movement. He was quite an eccentric fellow. His 44 room mansion, Fonthill, which is located next to the factory is completely made from concrete. I would like to go back there this spring to visit.

A wonderful piece of heritage and very nice processing. We have an old brickworks in Toronto that is well preserved and makes for a fun day long visit.
