Blackwater Wildlife Refuge

Posted by
Elaine Hancock (Olney, United States) on 29 October 2018 in Landscape & Rural.

I took a trip out to Blackwater Wildlife Refuge last week. There weren't many migrating birds there yet. I did see 4 bald eagles and a few snow geese, blue heron and egrets. It is just a very peaceful place to spend some time. These trees are located in the marsh and a lot of them are dying from the brackish water.

it's interesting to know that so many birds love this place where there are still many dead trees.

so is the marsh growing then? I guess the eagles are waiting for lunch to arrive. Nice diffused light

29 Oct 2018 11:40am

@grouser: The marsh is killing this part of the forest. But there is a lot of forest elsewhere.

If you saw bald eagles, it was not a waster trip. Lovely shot of the trees and the light.
