The New Squirrel Proof (Hopefully) Garden Shed

Posted by
Elaine Hancock (Olney, United States) on 23 May 2019 in Architecture.

The shed still has to be painted but so far no squirrel invasions. The new one was placed on a concrete slab with stairs and a railing so that I can easily get into and out of the shed since I still have to walk with a cane. Since I threw out a lot of junk, there is a lot more room in it! Unfortunately, I think that eventually they will figure out a way to get in.

Lovely image Elaine. Beautiful shed..It looks beautiful even without being painted :)))
I do agree with you..these squirrels are very intelligent ! They will find a way to squeeze in somehow !!
( No wonder they are used for ( were ) espionage !!

Il est charmant cet abri de jardin, et forcément les Écureuils doivent le trouver bien accueillant ;-)
Bon rétablissement, je n'avais pas suivi tes soucis.
Bonne journée Elaine

Well, good luck with the squirrels, my uncle in England had them in the attic of the house and had to get a specialist in to remove them. Sturdy looking shed too with some nice decorative flourishes. :)

That little space at the end of the eaves looks perfectly squirrel sized and it even has a line of stars to guide them to it :) If that really is a hole I suggest chicken wire. Smart shed though. I'd move in

23 May 2019 9:34am

@grouser: I will definitely go in there and take a look at it. They initially put up this steep ramp and I could not really get in the shed much less get out of it and they just replaced the ramp with steps. I have only been in there once just to see if I could manage the steps which are wonderful.

Really nice shed. But what kind of squirrels there are living? Killer squirrels with shot guns??? ;))

23 May 2019 9:57am

@Ralf Kesper: Ha! No, squirrels that have babies and more babies!

A very nice shed, but I have to agree with Grouser, I think there is a spot where the squirrels just might find a way in. I like the variegated hostas planted on the front of the shed. 5*

Very nice! This is just so cute...I threw out junk yesterday...really felt good to get rid of a lot. Still a lot to go.

@Rose: I agree! The year before last I spent about 2 hours almost everyday cleaning this junk room in the basement. I was just so happy to finally get a lot of it cleaned out.

YOur new shed looks sturdy and lovely. We have had a terrible time getting rid of squirrels in our eaves and other places. NOw that a fox family has moved into the yard behind ours, the squirrels are not so plentiful.

@Ruthiebear: Hmmm! Maybe that is what I need!

A beautiful shed that you have with such eye-catching wood grain patterns!! Don't store any nuts inside. :-)

23 May 2019 6:14pm

@Steven: Good idea! The squirrels destroyed my other shed.

Harry from Apex, NC, United States

It looks brand new. I wonder how it will weather. People think squirrels are clever at getting into things; in reality they are too dumb to quit trying, so eventually they get in.

That looks like a super new shed that will give the squirrels a hard time. But, they will keep looking. As you know, they never give up. ;-)
