Redwood Forest

Posted by
Elaine Hancock (Olney, United States) on 20 June 2019 in Landscape & Rural.

The Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park is located in the southern part of the state near the California state line. The redwoods were just beautiful. There were a lot of campgrounds in the area.

Nous sommes au pays des arbres plus que centenaires qui s'élèvent majestueusement vers les cieux.

I presume this is some of the rare remaining first growth. Wonderful trees, nicely captured

@grouser: I could not believe the number of logging trucks that we passed on our drive along the coast. There were areas where the timber has been cut and then replanted and the date as to when the trees were planted and then other areas where trees were actively being cut down. It was sort of sad.

Amazing redwoods. I wish they would just leave them alone. I read some time ago that most of the lumber from them goes to other countries.

One of the signs that we are exploiting the planet's resources faster than they can be replaced. The idea that continuous growth on a finite planet is sustainable has no logic.
