All looking very content sitting on the fence. The young cardinal looks quite happy with the sparrows. A nice capture Elaine. 5*

Lovely sweet shot. The cardinal seems a little flashy by the sparrows.

Three cute birds. Have your birds been hitting the feeders hard? All summer, the birds that visit our backyard, especially house finches, having been eating heartily. This the first time that has happened in summer. They usually find natural food. I'm guessing a loss of habitat due to building going on and the insect extinction happening.

As fall approached, they hit the feeders even harder. I can hardly keep up with the black oil sunflower seeds they eat.

@Steve Rice: They definitely have over the summer. I was also buying more seed this summer than I can remember from previous summers. Now it seems like the ground feeders are the ones eating all of the seed but the bird feeder is still a popular spot. I have been gone a few days and I feel like I am letting down the birds.
