The capture of the water is excellent running below the wall and feeding the wheel in the mill. 5*

The water is such a pretty color. It looks very peaceful there. I can imagine the sound of the water, and maybe the wind in the trees.

I am wondering where the water wheel would go... nice seeing the water rushing through the open gate
10 Oct 2019 1:26am
@Harry: I am not sure. The waterwheel was eventually replaced by a turbine in the late 1800's. I did find this information: "Located under the back porch is the turbine pit. In it sat a thirty five inch Leffel turbine. Belts from the turbine brought power into the basement. A control wheel on the porch allowed the miller to control how much water entered the turbine and thereby control its speed. This ability to control the speed was one of the innovations that made turbines preferable to the old water wheels."
Oh, I love that water rushing through the gate. The colors in the scene are a delight.

Nice cool clean water of the Ozark streams - I remember them well - nothing like a cool off dip while floating during the summer!

thanks for the update - this is an interesting bit of history. who would have guessed a turbine before 1900.
