Blenko Glass Factory

Posted by
Elaine Hancock (Olney, United States) on 15 October 2019 in Art & Design.

The Blenko Glass Factory was founded in 1921 in Milton, West Virginia. William J. Blenko was born in London, England. He started out as an apprentice to a glass craftsman. In 1893 he emigrated to Kokomo, Indiana where he established the first American factory to produce sheet glass for stained glass windows. In 1903, he was forced to close his factory and return to England, due to a recession. He eventually returned to the U.S. and opened the Blenko Glass Factory.

"There are moments when time stands still. You hope it will wait for you."
