End of the Lone Tree

Posted by
Elaine Hancock (Olney, United States) on 14 November 2019 in Plant & Nature.

I have driven by this tree often and taken pictures of it in every season. It is located in the middle of a field on a farm. I always saw it as a source of strength standing out there all by itself. This spring it didn't look too good. The leaves were very sparse and many of the branches were bare. By summer, all of the leaves had fallen off the tree. I didn't want to accept the reality that the tree was dead. It was a beautiful tree.

Aw!! Sad to see you go..
But time erases many trees..and may be you are destined to fall by yourself.
One consolation..
it is not falling to a man's axe !!

Sad Story,Elaine...But I think we've all in mind something same about a tree .......The tree which give us its shadow, when too Hot ...The Tree we wrote some words when we were Youngest and in Love .....The Tree it seems for us it's like a Brother, and we come to see and speak to each Time we can do .....This one is here in Majesty, bared or not : Superbly up against the Blue of Sky ,and ready to resist to all elements ......Superb Picture and Superb Words .....Thank's for all this ....

It is still a beautiful tree, but it's sad that it is dead. I wonder if it will be cut down, or just gradually fall on it's own.

14 Nov 2019 5:52pm

@B. Thomas: This tree is on a farm where the owner in his will deeded the land to Johns Hopkins University with some specific terms. There is a lawsuit that has been going on for years where the descendants of the owner say that the university is not complying with the owner's wishes. The lawsuit has been going on for years. So I am not sure what will happen to it.

It still is a beautiful tree, there's beauty in decay. I trained in neuroscience and trees like this always remind me of a mesh of neurons and blood vessels
