Grand Tetons

Posted by
Elaine Hancock (Olney, United States) on 18 October 2020 in Landscape & Rural.

Approximately 10 million years ago, faults formed in this area which caused earthquakes. Over time, the block of earth west of the Teton fault shot upward, forming the Tetons, and the block of earth east of the fault dropped more than 20,000 feet (6,000 meters) forming the valley.

"There are moments when time stands still. You hope it will wait for you."

The mountains have always fascinated me and will fascinate me again and again. I saw these Grand Tetons a long time ago and enjoy rediscovering them through the eyes of others.

Splendid shot of these mountains that I love. They are so dramatic how they just shoot up from the flat lands, with not much foot hills at all.

@B. Thomas: I agree, they seem to just rise out of nowhere. So different from what are called mountains along the East Coast!

Harry from Apex, NC, United States

beautiful view of the mountains; a few clouds in the sky would have really capped it
